Job title: Foundry Shift Supervisor - Green Sand and Gray Ductile Iron
Department: Foundry Administration
Reports to: Plant Superintendent
Hours: 2nd shift, full time, overtime required; typical hours are Monday through Friday, 3:30 pm to 2:00 am (hours possibly adjusted in future)
Pay: Based on experience
Summary of responsibilities
Directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in foundry by performing the following duties personally, through subordinate supervisors, and foundry staff.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Must have previous management experience. Manages employees and subordinate supervisors who supervise in the Molding Department, Deck Department, Grinding Department, and Core Room. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units on one shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Must have experience with Green Sand molding and preferably Gray and Ductile iron background.

EDUCATION and/or WORK EXPERIENCE
Associates degree (A.S.) from two-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers and subordinate employees.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPETENCE, AWARENESS, AND TRAINING
Competence, awareness, and training for probationary employees will be assessed by the “New Employee Checklist,” and the evaluations conducted at 30, 60 and 90 days, along with other training as needed. Competence and Awareness Training for regular employees will be assessed when annual evaluations are conducted, along with other measurements in accordance with the area the employee is assigned to.
